Beating women, O assembly of brothers, although it is permissible it is not something desirable. It is not desirable to noble, dignified, and virtuous men. Due to this, ‘Aa’ishah, may Allaah be pleased with her, said: “The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ never struck a woman or a slave with his hand; nor did he take revenge for himself; however, (only) if the annals of Allaah were transgressed.

Does a woman follow her whims and desires if she's working without being in need of the money ?

Answer:

No, she is not. She doesn't follow her whims and desires if it is a noble and respected work with no free mixing.
